No stranger to The Vista, Jon has performed at the beautiful venue four times over our last two seasons. “I love what that area has become,” he told us. “I rented a boat slip last summer as well for a weekend, it’s fantastic for boaters!”

“I love the fireplace, the staff, and the constant trickling in of campers who are lured by the music and the festivities,” Jon told us when asked about what he’d looking forward to on his return to The Vista. “Summer is my absolute favorite time of year. Almost all of my best memories of playing solo involve venues like Seneca Resorts. I love watching the sun set as I play the perfect song. Watching people make memories that you are providing the soundtrack for is priceless.”

We’re lucky to have Jon back this season, considering how busy he’s been since we’ve last seen him. “I’ve been performing acoustic covers all over the Finger Lakes as I have been for the past 5 years, and recently began writing, releasing, and recording my own material,” he told us. “My first single ‘Burnin Up’ was selected as a national finalist in the iHeartradio “Jack Daniels Battle of the Bar Bands” song competition, and I’ve got several more releases planned, including a Finger Lakes theme song I’m writing for a local company.”

Jon is a solo artist, performing rock, pop, and country, born and raised in the Finger Lakes. Having fronted the popular rock band Cry to the Blind, his background in heavy rock music has evolved into a passion for acoustic rock and roots music. “I became obsessed with rock bands like Guns N’ Roses at a young age, began playing guitar and singing at age 15, and was playing live gigs at 17,” Jon said.

Jon’s repertoire of covers ranges from James Taylor to Snoop Dogg, and his original material resembles the work of Ed Sheeran, Chris Stapleton, and Rob Thomas. Anyone familiar with Jon’s shows know that he plays many requests and tries to keep the audience involved in sing-a-longs and encourages them to dance and join in on the fun.

Don’t miss out on Jon’s performance Friday May 5th from 6pm to 9pm at our beautiful Vista, where Jon’s music can be enjoyed alongside beautiful waterfront views of gorgeous Seneca Lake, crisp and refreshing cold beverages served by our enthusiastic bar staff, and great food served by our local vendors.

An Interview With The Johnny Bauer Duo

Johnny and Nikki are no strangers to Seneca Lake Resorts, having performed at our Vista many times both as a duo and as solo acts. “I remember it being a cool space with a great view with an inviting, fun crowd and friendly employees,” Johnny said, reminiscing about last year’s performances.

Excited to return to our venue for their upcoming performances, the duo told us they “look forward to kicking off summer in May with an interactive crowd that’s ready to be entertained!”

“About fifteen months ago I left my day job to pursue music full time,” Johnny told us when we asked what he’s been up to since we last saw him. “In May I will just be getting back from four months of performing all through Florida either solo acoustic or as a duo. As a duo we also traveled to perform in North Carolina, Missouri, and Pennsylvania last year. We look forward to being home for the summer and already have another small tour planned for June. I have also been writing and recording new music and will have some new songs being released this year.”

Johnny is an accomplished guitarist, singer, and harmonica player. With organic percussion looped from the guitar, “but this is not your typical acoustic performance,” he told us. “Through intimacy and engagement with the crowd,” he explained, “the audience walks away feeling like old friends.

Johnny incorporates all types of familiar favorites and infectious original songs into his shows, performing soulful americana in the styles of Country, Blues, and Rock. “A sound comparable to Merle Haggard meets Tom Petty, mixed with Vince Gill.”

Johnny was born in Churchville, NY with music running through his veins, as both of his parents were naturally musical. His mom’s family always loved country music which led her to have a passion for singing, and his dad was a big Chet Atkins fan and picked up the guitar while serving in the Army. From a young age he was involved in the family band, “Bauer Power,” at first just making an appearance as Baby Elvis, but later singing with his mother and sister while his father and brothers played guitar and keyboard. It was in the downtime during festivals and jamborees when he began wanting to sing and write his own music.

Duo partner, Nicki Paris, plays bass guitar and sings backing vocals. The two have performed at breweries and distilleries throughout the U.S., including all over the west coast of Florida, as well as at private events. Together they have an electricity that draws the audience in.

Don’t miss this duo on May 12th from 6pm to 9pm at our beautiful Vista, with Pig Vycious serving up delicious Barbeque.

An Interview With Spencer Samolis

We spoke with Spencer Samolis, a new face to The Vista, about his debut Vista performance on May 19th. “I’m excited and thankful to be a part of the Seneca Lake Resort music scene,” he told us.

“Seneca Lake Resorts is a great vacation or weekend getaway to enjoy the Finger Lakes. I am honored to be a part of the Live at the Vista Concert Series. I look forward to playing in a resort atmosphere and can’t wait to have the crowd get involved with my songs by singing along.”

“I have been working on writing original music and continue to learn new music from all genres,” Spencer said. “Over the last year, I have been performing in over 100 venues from Western NY to the North Country including wineries, breweries, restaurants, marina’s, campgrounds and private parties.”

This Honeoye, NY, native may only be 21, but spencer tells us her has been playing electric and acoustic guitar for 14 years, “in which time I also became a self- taught singer.”

Spencer says he was influenced by the music his parents grew up with and shared with him. “My music consists of classic, contemporary and soft rock, oldies and country. My favorite artists are Tom Petty, Chris Stapleton, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and the Beatles, to name a few. I always strive to do a show that makes the audience want to come back for more. I love to play in front of a huge crowd or a small intimate crowd, and I am so grateful for the opportunity.”

When Spencer’s not performing, He spends his time as a Student One to One Aide for Wayne Finger Lakes BOCES at Midlakes Education Center, in his second year working there. “I feel I am making a difference in children’s lives,” he told us.

We spoke with the operator of the Sampson Farmers Market, Natalie Baris, who was recently named person of the year by the Trumansburg Chamber of Commerce for her work at the terrific Trumansburg farmer’s market.

Natalie created the Sampson Farmers Market in 2022. It is the first Farmers Market to be held within a New York State Park. “It was my dream to have a market at a campground,” she told us. “So here it is!”

“Sampson is my local park, and my favorite,” Natalie said on why she chose Sampson. “Also, there is no entry fee to Sampson, so not only can campers and patrons enjoy the market, but locals too.”

If it’s your first time visiting the market, you can expect to find a variety of local produce, artisans, and craft beverages including wine, beer, and cider.

“The best reason to visit any market,” Natalie told us, “Is to support local farmers and makers!”

“Returning vendors, and both returning and new customers,” are what Natalie is looking forward to the most with the market’s second season, “and hopefully an uptick in both,” she added.

Natalie spoke about the continued partnership between the market and SLR, saying, “The Sampson Farmers Market and Seneca Lake Resorts see value in both entities working together to help promote and grow each other,” Natalie told us. “I think they compliment each other well.”

The farmers market will take place within Sampson State Park, Fridays, from 4pm to 7pm, beginning on June 2nd [2023] and ending on October 6th. This perfectly coincides with Seneca Lake Resort’s Live at The Vista concert series which takes place at our Vista events venue from 6pm to 9pm every Friday from May 5th to October 6th. Together, these two events work out to give you the perfect day on the lake.
We recently caught up with Caley Vivolo, Social Media Manager at Macarollin’, to talk about last season, this season, and their great business.

“The events were really well attended,” Caley told us. “The people were fun to work with and serve our mac and cheese to. It’s a beautiful campsite with over 150 sites that were fully booked. We are looking forward to serving the campers again and listening to good music while we do it!”

“On top of taking our three food trucks to different events, we also have been building out our commissary so that we can start selling our mac & cheese to restaurants,” Caley told us. “We’re proud to offer the most delectable, creamiest, gourmet mac & cheese you’ll find in New York State with over 15 different recipes!”

That’s right, the incredible Silo food truck will be returning to The Vista on July 14th and August 4th. Silo has been with us since the beginning and the announcement of their return was pleasant news to our many return guests. Co-owners Katie Foley and Jesse Steve told us they’re excited to be returning as well.

Pat’s is back at Seneca Lake Resort’s with their awesome menu of delicious foods. We caught up with Pat himself to talk about the return of everybody’s favorite pizzeria.

“We are so excited to be back at the new and improved concessions pizzeria at Seneca Lake Resorts,” Pat told us. “I’ve been in the pizza industry about twenty-three years and have been the CEO of Pat’s Pizzeria and our four locations since January 1st of 2018.

The wonderful owners, managers and staff at Seneca Lake Resorts have been long time customers and this amazing collaboration began last year when they asked what I thought about having Pat’s Pizzeria come into the concessions building. Truth be told, I was honored. Last year we took notes, heard suggestions, and built a system that we believed would work for resort goers and families alike.

We’ve added some new menu items we think guests are going to be excited about! We’re looking forward to “blending” (hint, hint) with you this season and helping make your memories unforgettable. Oh, and we added CHICKEN WINGS!

Before their performance, we caught up with the band’s lead singer, Mike Speranza, to learn more about the group and their upcoming performance. Mike has played at the venue twice as a solo act and twice with the group, saying, “The venue is cool. The tent is perfect, with a great stage, very band-friendly. The view of the lake is incredible, and the people were amazing, so friendly and welcoming. We love the venue and look forward to putting on more fun shows. We love to entertain, see smiling, singing faces, and see people just relaxing and having fun. I feel like we’re enhancing their vacations.”

“We’re always adding new songs to our set list,” Mike said, when asked what the group has been up to since we last saw them. “One of the comments that we get most is ‘You guys play everything!’ And we do. We don’t get stuck in any particular genre. We all have different musical tastes, and we play what we like. That’s what makes the performance. We play new rock, classic rock, country, Americana, whatever we hear that we like. We’ve also written a few songs, just fun stuff like “Swim-up Bar”, “Blender Drinks”, “Gin Joint a Go-Go.” Obviously from the titles, you know that they’re just fun. Since last Summer at Seneca Lake, we’ve played East Rochester and Victor town concert series. We love Marge’s in Seabreeze. Buntsy’s and Iron Smoke in the Rochester area are two of our favorites as well.”

Shades of Grey is composed of I’m Mike Speranza. “I’m the lead singer and rhythm guitar player. I’ve been playing on and off since I was a kid. I love REO Speedwagon, Tom Petty and Chris Stapleton. So those artists are always in the set.

Karen Flack is our fiddle player and backup singer. She sings lead vocals on a few songs as well, and we do some songs together. We also play a short set of just the two of us together, while the other guys take a quick break.

Charlie Trahan is our lead guitar player. This guy is my guitar hero! He’s incredible. He’s been playing for years and among other bands, he was in a band years ago with spandex and rockstar hair! He doesn’t say much about those years though! Charlie is also a great backup singer, adding superb harmonies to many of our songs. He plays country music as well. In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that he can’t play!

Dan Eberth is our bass player. His attention to detail and ability to keep “the groove” is impeccable. Dan keeps us all honest and is always true to the music. He also sings backup and can jump in on lead vocals when we need him to.

Finally, Dave Williams is our drummer. Dave has played for years and is comfortable playing rock, country, disco, or whatever! He is so much fun too. My back is always to him while we play, but I know he’s always smiling. Audience members always comment on that. Dave always has fun playing.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention our good friend and soundman, Mike Ferguson. Mike has a great ear and is constantly learning, evolving, and enhancing our sound. He is truly a part of the band.

The audience can expect a super fun show full of songs that they know. I always say, ‘If you don’t like this song, hang on, because you’ll like the next one’ They can expect a wide variety of music and we’re always family friendly. We love seeing the kids there. One or more of us will always jump off the stage and dance with the kids or toss them a tambourine. The bottom line is that we are very excited to be a part of the Seneca Lake Resorts!”

An Interview With Shackwater

Another fan favorite is returning to The Vista. We caught up with Shackwater’s guitarist, Pete Carr, to talk about what the band has been up to lately and how they feel about their return to The Vista.

“We have been busy playing venues like Twisted Rail, On The Rocks Bar & Grill, The Newark American Legion, The Central on Main in Canandaigua, as well as numerous private events and parties.”

The band is excited to be back at Seneca Lake Resorts, Pete told us. “We remember that the venue was beautiful being right on the lake. The staff were fantastic and the vendor who was serving food was very good. We love the scenic venue and that this is opportunity for us to play outside our usual geographic area and share some great music with a great crowd!”

Shackwater is a classic rock band from the Shortsville, Farmington, Canandaigua area. The current members of the band have been playing together for nearly 10 years, but the band has been around for 17 years.

“In addition, many of us have been in other bands together for more than 25 years,” Pete told us. “While the band plays primarily classic rock music with a leaning towards the Blues, we have very diverse interests in music and bring that love of music to our performances. We love audience interaction and often have fellow musicians join us.”

We caught up with Rich Driscoll, band manager and lead singer, to see what the band has been up to since we last saw them and how they feel about their return to The Vista at Seneca Lake Resorts.

“We remember all the people that energized us and rocked with us all night,” Rich told us. “We’ve been touring the Finger Lakes all summer playing at many Summer Concert Series, Festivals, Campgrounds, and establishments. We’ve also been working on a variety of new music by artists such as CSNY, KWS, Stevie Wonder, Chris Stapleton and much more. We play a great mix of Classic Rock, Southern Rock, and Blues Rock music that will Energize your Soul.”

“We are very excited and look forward to seeing all the people that love listening to our music. We’ve made all kinds of new friends playing at Seneca Resorts and are considered one of the local crowd favorites. It’s the people that energize our souls to perform. This is an absolutely beautiful venue overlooking Seneca Lake with outstanding sunsets. The stage and venue is an amazing place for live entertainment. We love the vibe and energy of this place. Each year Seneca Lake Resorts hosts more weddings than the year before at our beautiful event venue, The Vista.

Located in the heart of The Finger Lakes, and affixed with rustic, yet elegant, charm, The Vista is the versatile and picturesque event space you’ve been looking for. The Vista sits atop a lush green hill overlooking the beauty of Seneca Lake, where the calm deep blue waters and rolling hills of wine country give way to the breathtaking sunsets above, that will canvas your wedding in a golden ray, giving your photos that picture perfect look. Composed of four distinct setup locations, the vista can fit to any wedding plan.

The Vista is an incredibly versatile event space. Whether you’re going for rustic, modern, classic, or something completely unique, The Vista can pull it off. At twenty-five-hundred square feet, The Vista can easily accommodate a large wedding of over one hundred. It comes complete with a food prep space, rustic wood bar, fireplaces, bathrooms, thirteen farmhouse tables and one hundred and fifty wooden folding chairs.

The Vista lawn is perfect for accommodating a large wedding and has frequently accommodated weddings of over one-hundred people, while effortlessly allowing spacious placement of chairs and leaving enough room for comfortable aisle and alter area. A lawn ceremony allows guests to enjoy the fresh air and take in that refreshing breeze emanating from the waters below as they are situated comfortably beneath the shade of foliage.

Our 40ft by 80ft tent has acted as a dance floor, dining hall, and ceremony spot. Spacious and versatile, it is an ideal spot for a large sized wedding. It is complete with two power pedestals offering electricity to your DJ, band, or caterer, as well as string lights surrounding the tent to lighten up the night after the sun goes down. Our tent is the perfect open-air setting with the added comfort of a roof.

But don’t just take our word for it. Listen to the reviews of our many happy couples who chose The Vista for their wedding.

Carina & Matt

“My husband and I got married at The Vista this past September. This venue gave us the opportunity to design our unique wedding experience with ample spacing using the building, tent, and patio areas. We had a great experience working with the Event Coordinator, while coordinating details for our big day. The bar staff were friendly and accommodating. We had 150 guests attend our wedding and felt there was plenty of space, bathrooms and parking. There are lots of options for different weather you may experience, the garage door windows at this venue can be open or closed. They also have side walls which can be added around the tent, we chose to use these to keep our guests warm in late September. The unobstructed view of the lake is like no other, but, what really sold us was the family-like atmosphere we felt while visiting the venue for the first time. The kids loved the playground below and caught a movie on the outdoor screen. We highly recommend The Vista for both the quality of the location and the kindness the staff provided us with.”

Melissa & Bryan

“When deciding on a wedding venue we were looking for a perfect mix of having a weekend, lake getaway with our closest family and friends with the weekend culminating in our wedding on Sunday. Seneca Lake Resorts made this dream a reality. We were able to reserve cabins next to one another and nearby The Vista. We had rented a total of 10 cabins for friends and family that weekend. Our families had games set up, a cookout, and rented boats from the marina. A weekend full of fun and memories for everyone all thanks to the amenities of Seneca Lake Resorts. Our guests are already looking forward to a reunion. The Vista setup allowed us to host the ceremony, reception, and cocktail hour and dancing all in one location with it’s flexible lawn, pavilion and white tent set up all side by side. We would highly recommend The Vista at Seneca Lake Resorts to anyone who is looking to have an outdoor wedding overlooking Seneca Lake. Our wedding there could not have been more perfect.”

Hannah

“The Vista is absolutely beautiful. Right on the edge of the lake. The feel is so warm, greater than we could have ever imagined. We got to camp right there and then I walked out of our cabin to the venue to get married. I had a lot of my family stay there too, so it’s like a one stop shop for everything that you need.”

Renee

“I fell in love with it. I fell in love with the water, I fell in love with the view, the openness of it. The greatest part of the venue is the idea of going to the wedding and walking back to your cabin. I would one hundred percent recommend it. It is a great, great spot.”

Miranda

I was so excited to see what we could do to the space, and I was beyond happy with the outcome. You can’t beat the views at The Vista at Seneca Lake Resorts. One thing that really stuck out to me was the cabins being so close to the ceremony and reception area. It was very convenient for the makeup artists and guests attending the wedding. Between the tent and the pavilion there are so many different layouts and floor plans you can customize to create the perfect wedding day!”

It’s no wonder everyone keeps talking about Seneca Lake Resorts. Here’s some of what they’re saying:

Miranda Odell (President of The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce)

“My partner and I were able to enjoy a night out recently without children, and we chose to drive over from Keuka Lake and attend one of your Live At The Vista Friday Night Events. We are nature lovers and loved the concept that you offered live music outside by the lake and park with food trucks, a bar and other dining options on site as well. (I have a special diet restriction and was so delighted to see that you even offered gluten free pizza which was some of the BEST pizza I’ve had in a long time!) He and I both loved the music, the atmosphere and the setting was awesome. We just really had a nice time and plan to come back with the kids for them to enjoy the movie screen and playground facilities. We may even bring our boat! Nice job with all of the upgrades that you have done with the property. This is such a regional gem to visit and make you feel like you’re on vacation but still close to home that you can come back and visit often.”

Jeff Shipley (President of Seneca County Chamber of Commerce)

“The Vista at Seneca Lake Resorts is among the most scenic places in the entire Finger Lakes Region – making it the perfect setting for our event. From the accessibility of the space to its on-site amenities, our setup was both convenient and hassle-free. In addition, the resort staff was very responsive and accommodating to our needs ensuring that our event was a complete success. I enthusiastically recommend considering the Vista at Seneca Lake Resorts for your next event.”

Natalie Baris (Creator of The Sampson Farmers Market)

“Sampson Farmers Market is happy to have such wonderful support from Seneca Lake Resorts. The market is in its infancy and growing in part because of the draw to Seneca Lake Resorts! Being able to offer local produce and goods to guests and campers is an added benefit to Seneca Lake Resorts and Sampson State Park.”

We’re grateful for all the kind words and we are so glad to provide people with a terrific and beautiful getaway they’ll remember forever. We can’t wait to see you all next season and show you what great new additions we’ve been working on.

Seneca Lake Resorts Hosts The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours Mixer

We had so much fun hosting the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce and all of its many members at one of their monthly “business after hours” mixers this last summer. We caught up with Spencer recently to see what he’s been up to since we last saw him way back in 2023.

“I’ve been pretty busy since the last time I played at Seneca resorts,” Spencer told us. “I’ve played over 100 shows in more than 30 different venues, the Hemlock Music Festival and Festival at the Falls in Honeoye Falls. I’m looking forward to being back at The Vista this season.”

“Coming back to Seneca Resorts is really exciting. The venue has a great crowd. People are up close, singing along and really get into the show. I love it when they just get up and dance. The acoustics are amazing, and you can’t beat the view! The staff does whatever it takes to make it a perfect show. It’s the best.”

Spencer has been branching out, bringing his music to new people. “Coming up I’ve got a few venues I’ve never played before around the Finger Lakes and into central New York.
Kara Fink was born and raised in the suburbs of Rochester, NY. It was at the age of 13 when she was first inspired to write music. Her musical inspirations have varied dramatically over the years, from Taylor Swift and Boys Like Girls in her youth, theatrical compositions of Stephen Schwartz and Jason Robert Brown in her late teens, to some of her current favorites: Joni Mitchell, Steffany Gretzinger, Bon Iver, and Bent Knee.

With training in classical, jazz, and contemporary guitar and voice, Kara’s music can be difficult to categorize into a single genre. The soulful twang of her voice over colorfully-complex chords has earned her the term “folk-jazz”.

Outside of her formal training, Kara grew up in the world of musical theatre. From age 8 to 19, she performed in musicals (and even composed a piece or two) throughout the Rochester area. Though her current music would not be considered “Broadway”, the expressiveness with which she writes and performs is often reminiscent of her theatrical background.

For most of her adolescent life, Kara expected to pursue a college degree in music and performing arts. After becoming more actively involved at her church and finding her own Christian faith, Kara instead obtained a degree in religious studies and philosophy. For several years while attending Roberts Wesleyan College, and a couple years after graduating, she used her musical gifts primarily in the church. In her early 20s, she rediscovered her passion for performing in other contexts. Today, she continues to incorporate themes of existentialism and spirituality in her lyrics and writings, though today her main goal is to use this music to connect with those of all beliefs and backgrounds.

The ceremony was attended by State Senator Pam Helming, State Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan, and State Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, who presented Seneca Lake Resorts with a state citation commending them on this new addition to the region. Also in attendance were representatives from State Senator Tom O’Mara’s office, officials from the Town of Romulus, including Deputy Town Supervisor Michael Joslyn, and several other attendees representing local government, businesses, as well as local residents, excited to see the newly completed ADA compliant course.

The event started with an introduction by Seneca County Chamber of Commerce President, Jeff Shipley, welcoming everyone to the occasion. Chamber staff and several chamber board members were in attendance, including Board Chair Cheryl Santos.

“The Sessler family has a reputation for making good things happen, and behind me is one of those goods things,” Shipley said. “This is a remarkable accomplishment, a remarkable facility. It fills a huge void in our community in terms of family entertainment and certainly is a great addition to this wonderful property.”

On behalf of the Sessler family, Vern Sessler, one of the Seneca Lake Resorts owners acknowledged a few key partners, including, Fred Bonn, the New York State Parks Regional Director, Don Gruel, Sampson State Park Manager, Senator Tom O’Mara, Senator Pam Helming, Assemblymen Phil Palmesano, Assemblymen Jeff Gallahan, and Romulus Town Supervisor Dave Hayes. “Thank you and we appreciate your continued support,” said Sessler.

“As many of you may know,” Sessler continued, “six years ago, New York State Parks was considering closing Sampson State Park Marina. Since then, we have reconstructed the marina completely, added a ship store with restrooms, showers, and laundry, added thirty-nine new cabins, added two new bathhouses, built one-hundred and fifty RV sites with full-hookups, added rental pontoon boats, created The Vista event space, renovated for Pat’s Pizzeria, and installed a public Wi-Fi network. This year, we are proud to announce that we recently constructed a new dog park, which is open to the public, and we are very proud to be celebrating the grand opening of the biggest and nicest miniature golf course in the region, and quite likely in the entire northeast.”

“The course theme is everything great about the Finger Lakes and the area’s natural beauty. Within the course you’ll see features influenced by our region’s wine trails, and vineyards as well as our area breweries, agriculture, cheese industry, recreation, fishing, and camping. We even have a representation of the historical windmill in Waterloo. At this time, on behalf of the Sessler Family, and Seneca Lake Resorts, with general manager Kevin Reeder, we’d like to welcome you to Putt & Play at Seneca Lake Resorts.”

The first of the many legislators in attendance to speak was Assemblyman Phil Palmesano. “First and foremost,” Palmesano said, “I want to say thank you to the Sessler Family for your incredible commitment and dedication. I remember when I took over the redistricting of this area and came here to meet with the friends of the marina, walking on a very decrepit marina that was falling apart, and they said they wanted to save this place. And it needed saving. Fortunately, we had conversations with the State Park, Rose Harvey at the time, and they put out an ROP, and thank God, the Sessler Family bid on that, and won it. Ever since then, they hit the ground running and they’ve never stopped.”

He then asked the audience to join him for a round of applause towards the Sessler family for “what they’ve added for this community, quality of life, tourism, everything,” before continuing by saying, “it is a privilege and honor for me to be here with my colleagues in government to say congratulations and thank you.”

Palmesano then displayed the state citation he brought with him to present the Sessler family for this achievement, saying, “I can’t thank you enough, again, for your continued dedication and investment here, making this region better for all the people who come here, and improving the quality of life. Thank you, thank you.”

Assemblymen Jeff Gallahan was next to speak his praises for the Sessler family and their accomplishments. He shared his story of first meeting the Sessler family, owing the meeting to a flat tire he suffered in front of their office. Sessler employees helped him get back on the road without Gallahan having to do much of anything. “That’s a testament to what this family is. That was my first impression, and they haven’t disappointed me since. In 2017, there was a private/public partnership that was created here. This place was a wreck. It was in terrible shape, and look at it today. Look what they’ve done here. That contract with the state stipulated that they had to spend a certain amount of dollars, and you can’t believe how far over they are with that. With that, I can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done for the community, for tourism in this area, jobs in this area, what they’ve created here with the cabins, and the camping. It just blows me away. I want to say thank you so much for what you have done for this community and the Finger Lakes region. Thank you so much.”

Craig Pemberton, case worker to Senator Tom O’Mara was next to speak on behalf of the Senator. “I just want to ask; how many people are from Seneca County?” Pemberton asked, to which just over half of the crowd raised their hands. “Now can you agree that things over the past six years have gotten better in our area? And that’s because of families like the Sesslers, and groups like the Chamber of Commerce, and I want to give you both a big round of applause. Keep doing so, keep doing things like this,” he said in closing as the crowd applauded.

Romulus’ Deputy Town Supervisor, Michael Joslyn, then spoke. “I am a lifelong resident of the area and I have known the Sessler’s since I was young, and that was a long time ago, Joslyn jested. “Just seeing everything they’ve done for the community is incredible. We can’t thank you enough. Keep on going, don’t stop.”

Shipley then introduced the final speaker, Senator Pam Helming, saying the marina and resort project got its start under Helming when she represented the district before the redistricting.

“When I read about this,” Helming said, “at first, I was shocked and surprised, and I wondered what’s coming next. Congratulations to you. Your dedication, your commitment to this community, to bettering the State of New York, to employing more people, I just can’t thank you enough from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for allowing me to join this celebration today. I spend so much time here in Seneca County. I love it. I miss it. I miss all of you so much. Thank you to Fred Bonn of State Parks as well. Congratulations.”

The attendees all ended the day with a round of golf on the newly completed course which boasted waterfalls, lagoons, fountains, windmills, a lighthouse, and numerous representations of the iconic Finger Lakes region.
